Srinagar, February 7: Member of Parliament Aga Ruhullah Mehdi has expressed strong concerns over the recent killing of two civilians in Jammu and Kashmir, allegedly at the hands of security forces. The incidents occurred within 24 hours of a high-level security review meeting chaired by the Union Home Minister in Delhi.

Taking to social media, MP Mehdi highlighted that while the nation, including opposition parties, is focused on the handcuffing and deportation of Indian citizens in the United States, the tragic killings in Jammu and Kashmir have gone largely unnoticed.

"As per reports, one civilian was killed due to alleged torture in custody, while the other was shot in the chest after reportedly failing to stop at a checkpoint," he stated.

Mehdi further revealed that he sought time in Parliament to raise the issue but was not given the opportunity to do so. He urged the nation, particularly the INDIA alliance led by the Indian National Congress (@INCIndia), to demand accountability and push for the immediate arrest of the security personnel involved.

Expressing deep concern over the killings, he called for justice and emphasized the need for the country to address the safety and rights of its citizens in Jammu and Kashmir with the same urgency as other national issues.
