Srinagar, Feb 28: The fasting month of Ramadan for the Islamic year 1446 will commence on March 2 in Jammu and Kashmir as no reports of moon sighting were received.

Grand Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam said that no credible evidence of the crescent moon sighting was reported from any part of J&K. “Therefore, the first day of Ramadan for the Islamic year 1446 will be observed on Sunday,” he said.

With this announcement, preparations for the holy month are set to begin across the region. (JKNS)
