The initiative received an overwhelming response, reinforcing the collective commitment to public health and social welfare.
Speaking to Sachnews, General Secretary of the Gujjar and Bakerwal Conference, Choudhary Mohammad Yaseen Poswal, said that the medical camp on drug abuse organized today is a commendable initiative by the J&K Police Department, and people should actively participate in such programmes.
He emphasized that similar programs should be organized everywhere to ensure that Jammu and Kashmir remains completely free from drugs, preventing the spread of this social evil.
Speaking to Sachnews, SDPO Pampore, Ravenderpal Singh, said that today’s programme in Batdalaw Khrew was organized as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, which is being conducted across the country. A large number of people attended the event, where awareness was spread about the harmful effects of drugs in our society and how individuals can protect themselves from this menace.
The key message conveyed to the public was to stay away from drugs and keep society free from this evil. A doctor was also present at the event and provided insights into drug abuse and its consequences.
We urge everyone that if you come across any information regarding drug supply or individuals involved in such activities, please cooperate with the concerned police authorities. This cooperation is crucial in eliminating this menace from our society.
Speaking to Sachnews, the doctor said that the objective of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan is to keep our areas free from drugs.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police play a significant role in eliminating drug abuse from the region. Today, the police had planned to organize this programme in a far-flung area to spread awareness among the local people about the harmful effects of drugs on society. The message was clear drug abuse must be eradicated.
However, this responsibility does not lie solely with the police—local communities also have a crucial role to play. Mohalla committees can help by identifying individuals struggling with addiction and guiding them toward proper counseling. With the availability of numerous de-addiction centers in J&K, such individuals can be shifted there for structured rehabilitation and counseling, which plays a key role in their recovery.
