Kargil, April 20: In response to the persistent inclement weather, including continuous rainfall and snowfall across the Union Territory of Ladakh, the Chief Education Officers of both Kargil and Leh districts have ordered the closure of all Government and Private schools for three days, from April 21 to April 23, 2025, as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff.
In Kargil, the directive follows a review meeting held on April 20, chaired by the Hon'ble Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, and attended by the Executive Councillor for Tourism, Revenue and PHE, and the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil. The Chief Education Officer, S.D. Namgyal, issued the order citing concerns over potential landslides, rockfalls, and weather-related hazards.
Similarly, in Leh, the Chief Education Officer issued a parallel directive under the guidance of higher authorities, emphasizing the hazardous travel and environmental conditions brought on by relentless rainfall and snowfall, which could pose serious risks to students and school personnel.
