Srinagar, April 16: PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has expressed deep concern over the recent violence in Murshidabad, West Bengal, following protests related to the Wakf Amendment Bill.
According to Sachnews Jammu Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti called the loss of innocent lives "tragic" and urged the community to adopt peaceful and constitutional means to express dissent.
“It is particularly concerning that despite Mamata Didi’s assurance that this bill would not be implemented in West Bengal, protests erupted,” Mehbooba Mufti said.
She emphasized the need for unity and vigilance within the community, warning against actions that may weaken political allies who have taken strong stances in support of minority rights. “We must avoid actions that could weaken our allies who stand with us often at great personal and political cost,” she noted.
Calling for calm and constructive engagement, Mufti urged the community to resist any attempts by communal forces to exploit such incidents to further marginalize and disempower minorities. “We must remain united and vigilant and not allow communal forces to exploit these moments to push their divisive agenda,” she added.
