Srinagar, April 20: President National Conference Dr. Farooq Abdullah, has expressed deep sorrow and concern over the tragic loss of life and property in Ramban district, where a devastating cloudburst and landslides have caused widespread destruction.
Speaking at a gathering, Dr. Farooq as per Sachnews Jammu Kashmir said, "What has happened in Ramban district today is extremely tragic. Several lives have reportedly been lost, and many vehicles have been buried under the debris. The damage is extensive, including the collapse of a bridge near the tunnel." He further added that similar destruction has also occurred in Banihal.
Dr. Abdullah mentioned that senior officials, including the Deputy Chief Minister and other ministers, are on their way to the affected areas. “Ministers from Kashmir have also reached Banihal and are expected to visit Ramban shortly,” he informed.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, he emphasized that, “This is a disaster, and every possible help from our side will be extended. We have also appealed to the central government for support in managing this disaster. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that the losses suffered by the people are compensated to the extent possible.”
He concluded by reiterating the need for coordinated efforts between the Centre and the J&K administration to bring relief and rehabilitation to the affected families.
