Srinagar, April 18:
The Meteorological Department has issued a nowcast weather alert for Jammu and Kashmir, forecasting moderate to intense rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across many parts of J&K over the next 6 to 8 hours.
According to Sachnews Jammu Kashmir, the advisory, issued at 10:00 PM, urges residents to remain indoors amid the likelihood of severe weather activity during the night.
The department has further warned that high-intensity rain in certain areas could potentially trigger localized flash floods.
"Moderate to intense showers of Rain accompained with moderate to severe thunderstorm/Lightning/Gusty winds at many places of J&K during nxt 6-8hours. Stay inside and stay safe. High intensity Rain at few places may generate localized Flash floods," the advisory stated.
