Ramban, April 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police issued a fresh advisory, confirming that the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) Road, and Sinthan Road remain closed due to continuous rainfall and multiple landslides triggered across several areas.
While Mughal Road is open for Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) from Poonch towards Shopian, the vehicles are permitted only up to 3:00 PM from Behramgalla (Buffliaz).
Meanwhile, SSP Traffic NH-44 Raja Adil Hamid, while speaking from Seri, Ramban, shared the ground situation and expressed serious concern over the damage caused by overnight rainfall and thundershowers.
“Heavy rainfall and intense thundering throughout the night have severely impacted Ramban and adjoining areas. The NH-44 has been damaged at several locations with major landslides, covering stretches of up to 50–100 meters. In the immediate future, the road remains unfit for any vehicular movement,” SSP Hamid as per Sachnews Jammu Kashmir said.
He appealed to all commuters whether from Jammu or Kashmir not to undertake any travel on this route until further clearance is announced, citing safety concerns.
