Kupwara, April 12:
A tragic road accident in Sarkuli area of Kupwara district claimed the life of a local resident after a vehicle plunged into a gorge on Saturday.
Reports reaching Sachnews Jammu Kashmir said, an Alto car bearing registration number JK09C 1467 met with an accident at Sarkuli, approximately eight kilometres ahead of the Cement Bridge, while en route on the hilly stretch of the Machil-Kalaroos road.
The vehicle reportedly skidded off the road and fell into a gorge, resulting in the on-spot death of the driver, identified as Javid Ahmad, son of Ghulam Mohammad, a resident of Machil.
Local authorities and police rushed to the spot soon after the incident.
