Inclement Weather to Continue in J&K Till April 21: MeT

Srinagar, April 19: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a fresh weather update predicting continued wet weather across Jammu and Kashmir, with rain and snow expected to persist until late evening of April 20.

According to the forecast, most places in J&K will experience generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and snow (over higher reaches). There is also a possibility of moderate to heavy precipitation at isolated to scattered locations, particularly on April 19, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds.

The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy on April 21, with the possibility of light rain or thunderstorms at scattered places. From April 22 to April 28, the region is likely to witness predominantly dry conditions, though some cloudiness may occur around April 25.

The MeT department has issued an advisory urging concerned, to plan accordingly and follow administration and traffic-related advisories. Farmers are specifically advised to suspend all agricultural activities until April 21 due to the prevailing weather conditions.

The department has also warned of potential landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable areas due to rain and snow, especially in hilly regions. Residents are advised to stay indoors during periods of thunder and lightning for their safety.
