Restoration, Relief, and Compensation Are Top Priorities in Ramban: CM Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, April 21: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, has emphasized that restoration of Highway, provision of relief, and compensation for the affected families in Ramban are the top priorities in the aftermath of the recent cloudburst and flash floods that wreaked havoc in the area.

Speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister as per Sachnews Jammu Kashmir said, “Reports from Ramban indicate that the situation is quite critical in some areas, especially near the highway. Yesterday, I deputed the Deputy Chief Minister to assess the situation on the ground. Both the local MLAs of Ramban and Banihal are also present at the affected sites.”

CM Omar Abdullah stated that immediate efforts are underway to restore the highway and assist the residential areas that have been severely impacted by landslides and flash floods. “We are doing our best to restore connectivity as quickly as possible. Relief measures are being organized, and coordination is ongoing with central agencies,” he added.

He further confirmed that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed to Ramban to support local administration in rescue and relief operations. Discussions are also in progress to access assistance from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund and other available relief mechanisms to ensure compensation reaches all those affected.

“The government is fully committed to standing by the people in this hour of distress and will ensure timely aid to all those who have suffered losses,” CM Abdullah assured.
