ANANTNAG, April 12: Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, visited the revered Sufi shrines of Hazrat Sakhi Zainuddin Wali (RA) at Aishmuqam and Sarbal Pahalgam on the eve of the Annual Urs.
She paid obeisance at both shrines and offered prayers for peace and prosperity across the region. Dr. Andrabi was accompanied by representatives from various government departments and the Waqf Board during the visit.
As part of her inspection, the Waqf Board Chairperson reviewed the facilities and preparations for the Urs. She toured the hillside market leading to the Aishmuqam shrine and directed officials to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness in and around the area.
Dr. Andrabi also reviewed the ongoing development works at the shrines in Aishmuqam and Sarbal and issued a timeline for their completion. Speaking to the media afterward, she reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to transparency and reform.
"The transformative changes introduced in the Waqf Board will continue without any reversal. Those who were illegally benefitting from Waqf assets are now opposing these reforms loudly. However, our mission is clear, and the people on the ground are supporting and appreciating our efforts,” Dr. Andrabi stated.
She emphasized that the Waqf Board is determined to strengthen Sufi institutions and preserve their spiritual and cultural significance.
"Sufi spiritual tradition is our identity, rooted in peace and harmony. We must strengthen this glorious tradition and reunite our society by promoting the Sufi ideology of inclusivity and unity,” she said.
