Shopian, April 18: One labourer was killed and two others critically injured in a construction site accident in the Pandit Colony area of Allowpora in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.
The incident occurred when a cement mixture trolley, laden with construction materials, fell from the upper floor of a newly built double-storey structure. The sudden collapse of the trolley during ongoing construction work led to the fatal mishap.
All three labourers involved in the accident were residents of Kaprin, Kokernag. While the identity of the deceased worker was not immediately confirmed, the two injured—identified as Abdul Rashid Bumla and Farooq Ahmad Bumla—were rushed to the District Hospital Pulwama. Due to the severity of their injuries, both were later referred to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar for advanced treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Police said they have taken cognizance of the matter and are looking into possible safety lapses at the site.[KNT]
