Baramulla, April 23:
Two Pakistani terrorists were killed during an overnight operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Baramulla district, Army said.
Addressing the media, Brigadier Mayank Shukla, Commander of the 161 Infantry Brigade, as per Sachnews Jammu Kashmir, said, “Over the past few days, we had been receiving continuous intelligence about the movement of Pakistani terrorists near the LoC in the Uri sector. Based on this, surveillance systems, drones, and ambush teams were re-deployed and repositioned.”
According to Brigadier Shukla, on the intervening night of April 22 and 23, at around 1 AM, the army identified terrorist presence near a suspected launchpad close to the Uri nallah. The terrorists were tracked as they moved along the LoC.
“At approximately 3 AM, as the terrorists crossed over into Indian territory, our ambush teams engaged them. A fierce gun battle ensued for about two hours, resulting in the neutralisation of two heavily armed infiltrators,” Brigadier Shukla added.
Following the encounter, a thorough sanitisation and search operation was launched in the dense forest area. Security forces recovered a substantial cache of arms and explosives from the slain terrorists, including: 2 AK rifles, 1 Chinese-made 9mm pistol, Multiple magazines and a large quantity of ammunition, One 10kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED)
The identity and affiliation of the terrorists are being verified by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
