SRINAGAR, April 13:
BJP leader and Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, has strongly defended the recent amendments to the Waqf Act, asserting that the reforms are intended to bring greater transparency, efficiency, and institutional development across Waqf Boards in the country.
Speaking to media, Dr. Andrabi as per Sachnews Jammu Kashmir said, “When the government introduces a bill and it is passed in Parliament, it becomes law and no one can obstruct it. These amendments are for development and public benefit.”
Responding to criticism from opposition parties, she remarked, “When has the NC not misled the people? If they had fulfilled the responsibilities entrusted to them, the public would be praising them today instead of questioning their intent," she said.
Defending the ongoing reforms in the J&K Waqf Board, Dr. Andrabi reiterated that the process of introducing transparency and accountability will continue despite resistance from vested interests. “There will be no rollback. People at the grassroots are now cooperating and appreciating the change,” she said.
On the issue of Jammu & Kashmir’s statehood, Dr. Andrabi underlined that the matter had been clearly addressed at the highest level. “Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a statement in Parliament regarding statehood. What he said is final, it is like a line etched in stone,” she asserted.
